This gross event is KGU’s final GOTY competition for the year where the winner is named.
The profile of the open has been raised by the sponsors, by sponsoring professionals with a kitty of 1 million shillings to be shared by 18 top players.
– The 18 top professionals will be decided after 2 rounds played on Thursday and Friday.
– The Professionals Competition has attracted 56 participants including 4 from Tanzania.
– The Professionals will conduct a free golf clinic for members on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th December From 4pm.
The sponsors have also sponsored a curtain raiser stableford competition for members and guest of the sponsors to be played on Friday 19th December
Current GOTY standings have John Karichu of Limuru Golf Club leading, followed by Nelson Simwa of Vet Lab with Alfred Nandwa of Railway Golf Club at the third position.
They will have to contend with stiff competition from Nyali Local boys and juniors including: Mathew Wahome, Adel Balala, Agil Is-Hag and veteran senior players: Gurbux Singh, Mathew Githinji and emerging top caddy golfers: Emmanuel Wekesa, Levy Timbe and Sammy Mulama.[/vc_message][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row bg_style=”stretch” video_bg_overlay=”none” border_color=”#81d742″ border_style=”solid” border_width=”1px”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

  1. The Nyali Open Championship is open to men only with a handicap of 14 or less.
  2. It is played over 54 Holes, 18 Holes in the morning of Saturday 20th December 2014, 18 Holes in the afternoon of Saturday 20th December 2014 and 18 Holes in the morning of Sunday 21st December 2014.
  3. The championship will be played in accordance with the rules of golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient of St Andrews and in accordance of with the local rules laid down by the committee. There are additional areas that have been marked as out of bounds. On Hole No 1: any ball over the white line between the fairway and the road is out of bounds. On Hole No 9 any ball over the while line adjacent to the No 9 Banda is out of Bounds.
  4. Competitors must have a handicap of 14 or less and this handicap should be certified. There will be no changes to handicaps for the duration of the tournament. In the event that entries exceed the number required, the Organizing committee may at the discretion reduce the field on basis of handicap.
  5. The entry fee will be Ksh. 1,500/= which includes breakfast, lunch and tea on Saturday 21st and Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday 21st.
  6. Congu Handicap certificates must be submitted as part of the entry form.
  7. Competitors shall start at the time allocated to them in the Draw, which will be made on Tuesday 16th December 2014. Lateness of more than 5 Minutes will incur disqualification and less than 5 minutes a 2 stroke penalty.
  8. The Draw will be displayed on the Club Notice Board and the committee will forward the draw for publication in the “Standard” and “Nation” newspapers but will not however guarantee publication.
  9. For the purpose of Rule 33.3 the starters clock is deemed to show the correct time.
  10. The winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest scores for the 54 holes. In the event of a tie for the first place, the winner shall be decided by sudden death play-off over Hole 13, 14 and 18 in that order until a result is obtained. If there is a tire for the third or any other position, the decision shall be by count back over the last 18, last 9, last 6 or last 3 holes on the scorecard or such further holes as the committee shall decide. The Nett winner will be decided as above but with the best net score.
  11. SUBSIDIARY COMPETITION: INTERCLUB CHALLENGE COMPETITION. An interclub challenge completion will be played in conjunction with the Nyali Open Championship.
  12. Teams of two players shall represent their club. More than one team may represent their club. Entries are restricted to players competing in the Nyali Open. Entry Fee will be Kshs 1000/= per team.
  13. The Team Returning the lowest aggregate net score over 54 holes shall be deemed the winner.
  14. Prizes will be awarded to winners and runners up. Winners of prizes in the championship are eligible to win prizes in the subsidiary Inter-Club Competition.

The following prizes will be awarded at a ceremony in the Club House on Sunday 21st December 2014 the shown.

  1. Gross Winner, Runner Up Third.
  2. Best Gross Score First 18 Holes, Second 18 Holes, and Last 18 Holes.
  3. Net Winner, Runner Up, Third.
  4. Best Nett Score First 18 Holes, Second 18 Holes, and Last 18 Holes.
  5. Interclub Challenge Competition Winners, Runners Up.
