The Kenya Ports Authority Golf Day held at Nyali set an incredible record by hosting a field of 252 golfers from all corners of the country. A record that can only be matched not broken echoed Taib Bajaber, NG & CC captain.
To accommodate such a large field the first tee off began 5.52 am and golfers teed off in 8 minutes intervals all through to 2.00pm.
Pauline Gichara, a handicap 27 lady golfer from Nyali emerged overall winner on 40 points countback. Gichara’s 18 points on the front nine and 22 points on the back nine ensured her victory on countback to Mombasa’s Mary Mariga who managed 20 points on both the nines.
Daniel Ondeng’a was the winner in the men’s category on 39 points countback beating Suresh Hirani(men r/up), Walter Starzoch(men third) & Harpreet Sag00(men fourth) all with an impressive score of 39 points.
The best junior category was won by Niran Hirani, who recently received his handicap, on 36 points. In the staff category, Charles Odoo’s 37 points earned him the staff winner’s prize beating Teresia Odoo, who was r/up on 36 points.
